Internship opportunity…Road safety non-profit ASIRT in Potomac, Maryland For students interested in government, public health, writing, or research, Potomac-based non-profit, ASIRT is looking for interns for the Fall/Spring semesters. ASIRT, the Association for Safe International Road Travel, is a non-profit, humanitarian organization that promotes road safety through education and advocacy. Founded 15 years ago by schoolteacher Rochelle Sobel after her son died in a bus crash in Turkey, ASIRT maintains continuous, active relationships with communities and governments around the world for the purpose of advancing road safety everywhere. Our goal is to improve road conditions and travel practices all over the world through our work with road safety NGOs and international organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO) and UN, lobbying Congress, our Study Abroad Program for Colleges and Universities, and our Road Travel Reports for over 150 countries. In the past, our interns have been involved with Congressional legislation, lobbying on Capitol Hill, and Ambassadorial meetings.
