I. Graduation Speaker

  • Terence reviewed the selection and the Dean’s securing of Gary Bailey as the commencement speaker.
  • Terence will touch base with the Dean or Janet Rosencrantz about next steps in regard to GSA fund allocation.
  • Jihan mentioned that maybe there should be some gift package arranged for Mr. Bailey’s arrival. It was suggested that this may already be done and so this item will also be brought to the attention of the Dean’s office.

II. Nominations for MSW Graduation Speaker

  • Nominees:
    • Judson Richardson
    • Terence Chang
    • Lura Munns
    • Adrienne Young
    • Jihan Salem
    • Adena Hershkovitz
  • Adrienne asked for someone to relieve her of voting tabulation duties in lieu of her nomination. Kimarie volunteered to complete the process.
  • Kimarie will contact Dr. Raber as to the nominee list.
  • Kimarie will create ballots and place one ballot in each graduates’ mailbox no later than April 1. Completed ballots must be submitted by April 3rd. A ballot box will be created.

III. Graduation Party

  • Terence and Jenna stated that an official tally of the graduation party options survey has not been determined but a cursory review indicates favor for a bar-b-que on April 28th or May 6th.
  • Mary and Adrienne offered to help with planning.
  • Julie suggested that foundation year students could be enlisted for day-of support.

IV. Writing

  • Writing center information will be sent to Adrienne from Julie.

V. Transitions

  • Julie would like to chair the social action committee next year.
  • No other transitions considered because no other first year students were in attendance.

VI. Class Gift

  • Jihan suggested planting a tree.
  • Jihan suggested a bench.
  • Kimarie suggested a portrait of contributor to NCSSS or social worker field.

Adrienne suggested a plaque with an inspirational quote from a social worker.
