Fifth Annual Social Work Job & Career Fair

The fifth annual Social Work Job & Career Fair, co-sponsored by Howard University School of Social Work and the National Catholic School of Social Service will be held on Friday, April 1, from 10 am to 1 pm, in Caldwell Hall on the campus of Catholic University. Caldwell Hall is 2-1/2 blocks from Metro's Brookland/CUA stop on the Red Line. For further information, phone 202-319-5454.

International Program Associates

Are you a BSW, MSW or PhD student interested in an international work experience? Summer (10 weeks minimum) assignments are now available in East Jerusalem, Tanzania, Nicaragua, and the Philippines. Both macro and clinical students are welcome! If you are interested in learning more about the program, please attend the information session on Monday, January 31, 2011 from 12 noon to 1 pm in the Terrace Level of Shahan Hall or contact Prof. Frederick Ahearn.

Brown Bag Information Session on the Presidential Management Fellowship and the HHS Emerging Leaders Program

NCSSS students have successfully applied for these programs over the years. At the Brown Bag information session, NCSSS graduates speak about their experiences with the application and selection process and being PMF and Emerging Leaders fellows. Building Your Social Work Toolkit

Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010
This introduction to field education and generalist practice is mandatory for all BSW seniors & foundation year MSW students who will begin internships in Fall 2010.

NCSSS Graduation Ceremony

The ceremony for BSW, MSW, and PhD graduates from NCSSS will be held at 2 p.m. in the Great Room in the Pryzbyla Building. Diplomas will be distributed during the ceremony. The graduation speaker will be Rear Admiral Peter Delaney, MSW, Ph.D.

Wine & Cheese Reception for NCSSS Graduates

The NCSSS Alumni Association cordially invites all NCSSS graduates to a Wine and Cheese Reception hosted by the Alumni Advisory Board on Thursday, May 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Room 100, The Happel Room, in Caldwell Hall. 

BASSO Brunch

The Bachelor of Arts Social Service Organization will be hosting an end of year brunch on Friday, April 30, from 9 to 11:00 a.m. in Room 106A of Shahan Hall.

Film Showing of Invisible Children

The Bachelor's of Social Work Student Organization is sponsoring a showing of the film "Invisible Children" on April 12 at 8:00 p.m. in Room B of the Pryzbyla Building. The film tells the story of a 20-year-long war in Northern Uganda where children live in fear of abduction by rebel soldiers and are being forced to fight as part of a violent army. The film will be followed by a presentation by Innocent, a Ugandan.

Ethical Issues in Spiritually Sensitive Practice: A Hands-On Approach

The Center for Spirituality & Social Work presents Ethical Issues in Spiritually Sensitive Practice with Michael Sheridan, PhD and Cathleen Gray, PhD on Saturday, April 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the CUA campus. Social workers may receive 6 CE Credits that will fulfill ethics requirement for licensing. 

Fourth Annual Social Work Job & Career Fair

NCSSS and HUSSW present the 4th Annual Social Work Job & Career Fair on Friday, March 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the Pryzbyla Center Great Rooms A & B.

Dean's Cocktail Reception

The NCSSS Alumni Association invites all alum to this special event at the University Club of Washington, DC on March 24, from 6 to 8 pm. The University Club of Washington is located at 1135 16th Street, NW (202-862-8800) and is within walking distance of the Farragut North Metro Station on the Red Line and the McPherson Square Metro Station on the Blue and Orange Lines.
